Video game publisher Capcom has announced that it plans to launch an early Prototype version of its upcoming Mega Man Legends 3 on the eShop service for the Nintendo 3DS when it is introduced, allowing fans of the series to actively provide feedback and contribute to the development of the game.
The Prototype version of Mega Man Legends 3 will contain a number of missions and an unlockable debug mode that will allow gamers to see even more of the game and, as one plays the
3DS-based game, the developers will encourage them to offer feedback and concepts that can make the experience more interesting.
Capcom says this will be “the first Capcom game to be co-developed by the fans” and points out that fan feedback has already been delivered on Devroom, an online publisher sustained discussion forum.
Capcom has announced the existence of Mega Man Legends 3 in September of 2010, choosing to revive a series that has been ignored since Legends 2 was one of the original PlayStation titles back in 2000.
The game will fall squarely in the action role-playing game genre and will have an open world philosophy, encouraging gamers to explore the game world and uncover its secrets.
Capcom has not said how long the Prototype version of the game will be offered for and what those who play it could expect as a reward when the full video game is launched, especially those who offered good ideas that were implemented.
Nintendo talked about the 3Shop as being one of the main selling points for the Nintendo 3DS and said that it would be available when the new handheld is launched in Japan.
The launch date has been pushed back and Nintendo now says that the service will be delivered in May, after the Nintendo 3DS receives its firm major firmware update.
