With all the next-gen goodies showed to the public at this year's E3 event, few people would've believed that any classic title would find its way to the crowd, but it seems
that
Capcom has what it takes to bring a beloved game in the spotlight: Mega Man 9 for Xbox Live Arcade, Wiiware and PSN will be brought back to life this fall. So, you should be ready to take a break from all the eye candies and get back to some old school graphics, NES-style, in the company of the famous hero.
The most interesting thing about the game is the fact that, as the number in the title suggests, we're not talking about a remake of an already released game, but a brand new one. The new Mega Man will be developed by Inti Creates, a company known for producing games in the Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX series.
The game's action is set after the events in Mega Man 8, when riots start all over the world. The strange thing about these riots is that, apparently, the robots taking part in them are not Dr. Wily's creations, but Dr. Light's and, to make things worse, the evil doctor appears on TV to blame Dr. Light for being the mastermind behind the disaster. Mega Man will, of course, jump in and save the day, along with the reputation of his creator.
The new game to be released by Capcom will focus, exactly as the classic titles, on defeating the bosses along the levels and acquiring all sorts of weapons. All in all, we'll get over a dozen of levels to complete, 50 brand new enemies and bosses to battle against - all created by the original character designer of Mega Man, Keiji Inafune and, of course, current gen leaderboards, as well as all sorts of score and time spent in-game comparison.
