The most interesting thing about the game is the fact that, as the number in the title suggests, we're not talking about a remake of an already released game, but a brand new one. The new Mega Man will be developed by Inti Creates, a company known for producing games in the Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX series.

The action of the game is set after the events in Mega Man 8, when riots start all over the world. The strange thing about these riots is that, apparently, the robots taking part in them are not Dr. Wily's creations, but Dr. Light's and, to make matters worse, the evil doctor appears on TV to blame Dr. Light for being the mastermind behind the disaster. Mega Man will, of course, jump in and save the day, along with the reputation of his creator.
