As the World's Ugliest Dog competition approaches, I present to you the winner of last year's contest, the lovely Mugly.

According to The FW, Mugly (left), a now 9-year-old hairless Chinese Crested, also won Britain’s Ugliest Dog in 2005.

As I wrote, this year's Petaluma competition will be judged by how the dogs impress audiences and judges, and they have to have personality.

“Does the dog strut across the stage? Does the dog look longingly off at a bone? They’re looking at what kind of things give them personality,” contest organizer Vicki DeArmon tells Today.

The winner will be chosen on June 21 but Ellie Mae, featured right above is one of the favorites. Also an 8-year-old Chinese Crested hairless pooch, Ellie Mae will be facing Mugly, who is also competing.
