Why, Lord, why? Why is there so much crazy in this world that even the things that are meant to be kept private are eventually exposed to the public? No, don't worry, I haven't gone completely crazy yet, nor have I taken up an acting job - I was just trying hard to see the funny side to something that's not very funny. We've all seen our fair share of celebrity exhibitionism so far, and yes, many of the famous people out there are infected with the bug of "let me show you everything I have". We live in the age of reality TV, in an age when people make their joys and sorrows public via personal web pages, the age of blogging, vlogging and whatever else we can think of in terms of user-generated Internet contents. And yes, in this day and age shame and privacy are two topics better left untouched, two words that frankly have lost much of their initial meanings.
However, I can't help myself from pointing out a particular case, which I find particularly revealing. Have a look at these photos depicting former porn star Jenna Jameson. Now, we all know Jenna here, whether we like to admit it or not. She
was, at the height of her... ahem, fame, the very image of the trashy-yet-successful exhibitionist. Blonde, with surgically enhanced boobs and an attitude to match, Jenna was queen of the porn world. Now, however, she decided that being a porn star was no longer an option for her, and has been trying very hard to "clean up her act". Which means she removed her breast implants, has a boyfriend and attends public events - while all the time cashing in on her porn empire, Club Jenna. This may sound ridiculous to you or me, but there's no stopping the post-porn porn queen form making herself a regular at all sorts of events - and even taking to the catwalk as a fashion model. Funny enough, she did that for the same fashion label as Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. Anyone sees the connection?
Well, here is Jenna again making her way into our lives. She attended the Troy Kingdom fashion show, and yes, before you wonder any more, that IS a breast surgery scar you see under her exposed breast. Which brings me back to my original question. Why? Why do we have to see this? Why would a woman want to share that intimate aspect with the whole world, particularly since it's not a very pleasant aspect? I mean yes, I understand why someone would want you to see her breasts, but her scars as well? Why? I'll leave you pondering that question for now - and please get back to me if you have any answers.
