During the iPhone-centric event Apple held in Cupertino earlier this week, Scot Forstall (SVP of iPhone software) confirmed that customers would soon be able to take a photo with their phone and make it into a genuine greeting card with a few taps.

The new Cards app will let users create and mail cards that are personalized with your own text and photos.

You don’t need to visit any stores, or buy any actual cards, or even use a pen. Everything is done from the iPhone app: “Take a quick snapshot and with a few taps and swipes, an elegant letterpress card is on its way to any address in the world.”

Cards will go for $2.99 (about 2 Euros) individually when sent within the U.S. and $4.99 (about 3.7€) when sent to or from anywhere else, including postage. Visit Apple here to learn all about the upcoming service (available October 12).
