Australia's Perth Zoo has recently announced that the facility is now home to a trio of adorable meerkat pups.

The kits were born to mom Tilly a month ago, on February 15. They spent the first weeks of their life hidden inside their den, and are just now starting to explore their home.

Keepers in charge of looking after them say that they all look healthy and active, and that they seem to be quite fond of playing and clowning around.

“The kits are absolutely gorgeous and it’s a real treat to watch them playing together,” keeper Kaelene McKay said in an interview, as cited by Zoo Borns.

By the looks of it, mom Tilly is not the only one that spends most of the time making sure that the pups do not get into trouble.

On the contrary, other members of the 13-member meerkat clan appear to be more than willing to help keep the pups safe and happy.

“All of the adult males in the group have been helping mum, Tilly, by sharing the babysitting duties,” Kaele McKay explained.

For the time being, it is unclear whether the kits are boys or girls. The trio is scheduled to undergo their first health exam sometime next month, at which point vets will be able to clear this mystery.
