You might be familiar with the partnership between Medion and retail giant Aldi, a collaboration that produced a series of very affordable tablets, destined to compete with offerings like Tesco’s Hudl.

The Medion slates don’t come with mind-blowing specifications and appeal to the budget-conscious consumer who doesn't want to go spending a whole year’s savings on a tablet computer.

But unexpectedly, TabTech reports Medion is planning to offer the Android 4.4. KitKat update to three tablets from its lineup, including Lifetab E7316, Lifetab E10316 and Lifetab E10320.

You might remember that back in December, Aldi announced the initial batch of Medion LifeTab E7316 tablets has been sold out in two days.

If you’re curious about the specifications of the tablet, you should probably check out our Tesco Hudl and Aldi Medion LifeTab E7316 to see what the hype was all about.

Then a few months ago, it was announced that the tablet would be re-launched and sold under the same £79.99 / $131 / €96 price. The device runs Android 4.2 out of the box, but now it appears that users of this budget device will be able to enjoy the perks of Android 4.4 KitKat too.

Sadly, a specific time frame wasn't provided, so we’ll just have to wait and see when Medion manages to push out the update for the three slates mentioned above.
