Medieval II: Total War is the newest addition to the Total War series. It is based on the same basic ideas as its predecessor, but emphasizes on that period, extending it by almost 100 years (1080 - 1543). This is the game that managed to raise the stakes for
the strategy games to come. It is the sort of game that posses a great challenge for any real-time strategy game out on the market and still compete just as well in the turn-based category. Engage on the challenges of the world from just before the First Crusade and drive your nation to the shores of the New World as Christopher Columbus discovers America. While you are free to shape the world freely, you'll also get different missions from the Pope and Noblemen and breakthrough events will affect to some degree your great reign. People gain experience and enhance their skills, but then they die. Can you keep up with the rest of the world powers? Take a look at the following if you can't.

Cheat Codes

While in the game press "~" (tilde) to bring down the console and type any of the following cheat codes (be sure to write the specific names using only capital letters):

add_money # - this will add money (# = amount of maximum 40000)
process_cq SETTLEMENT NAME - will automatically build anything in queue in this settlement
auto_win ATTACKER/DEFENDER - will guarantee that the selected attacker of defender wins the next battle
add_population SETTLEMENT NAME # - adds population to the desired city
toggle_fow - toggles the fog-of-war
give_trait CHARACTER TRAIT LEVEL# - will give any trait to the specified General

Unlock all factions in single-player

This cheat involves editing a game file so ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE PROCEEDING.

Open the [game folder]-Data-world-maps-campaign-imperial_campaign-descr_strat.txt file with Notepad. You will see a list of the nations you can use in the beginning, the unlockable ones and the non-playables. Cut and paste the unlockable factions to the playable nations. Save the file. Now go back to the game and complete a campaign mode and all of the factions will be unlocked. Do not copy the end non-playables.

Adding Units to Stacks:

Pick a city or any unit as if moving it and just open console ("~") and type any of the following to get the specified units:

rogan - Elephant Artillery
vindaloo - Elephant Rocketeer
madras - Elephants
istanbul - Mercenary Monster Bombard
george - Mercenary Monster Ribault
