The remains of King Richard III were discovered in the autumn of 2012 under a parking lot in Leicester.

About a week ago, a team of University of Leicester scientists and students began to thoroughly explore the late monarch's burial place.

According to Live Science, they have thus far uncovered numerous medieval artifacts. For the most part, they found bits and pieces of pottery.

However, since the dig is scheduled to extend over at least four weeks, many are confident that other historically significant objects will be brought back to light.

The same source informs us that the researchers and the students now exploring the ruins of the lost Grey Friars church are first and foremost concerned with digging in and around the choir area.

This is because it was in this location where Richard III's body was discovered last year.
