While most women wait for the right person or the right moment to lose their virginity, some prefer to do it for the right price. A 27-year-old medical student has announced that she is auctioning off her virginity to the highest bidder online.

The American blond woman, who uses the name Elizabeth Raine, has set up a website where she presents more information about herself and explains her decision to put her virginity up for auction. She hopes to get at least $400,000 (€290,170) from the deal and says that for her it is just a “practical financial opportunity.”

So, bidders interested in a deeper relationship should be advised, as she says, that “love is not part of the arrangement.”

“The concept does not offend me, it is a unique opportunity for excitement and growth, and I need not mention the nice financial bonus. The potential sums involved are too large to be dismissed, [but the deal] it's of a financial nature,” she said, according to Metro.

Elizabeth says she has no emotional attachment to her virginity, although she understands that for some people that might sound strange. For her, losing her chastity is just a physical act, that's why she sees the arrangement as a mere business transaction.

On her website, the young woman posted a series of pictures of herself in sensual lingerie, which, by the way, are heavily photoshopped, but she doesn't show her face, in order to protect her real identity.

The student says she has never had physical relationships with any man and promises the winning bidder an unforgettable 12-hour date during which he will be offered her virginity.

“I’ve dated but for no more than two to three months and have never had a boyfriend because I’ve never felt anyone I’ve connected that strongly to. I like guys but I’ve just never felt strongly enough for anyone or had a real emotional connection,” she told the Daily Mail.

However, the fact that she chose April 1 as the date of the auction has sparked suspicion and has made many think that it is actually an elaborate prank.

Elizabeth says that 35% of the money she will receive will be given to a charity that promotes the education of women in developing countries. That or world peace.

Miss Raine is not the first, nor the only woman to sell her virginity online. At least eight other women around the world have done the same thing, including Catarina Migliorini, a Brazilian model who actually put her virginity up for auction twice, once in October 2012 and the second time in November 2013, claiming that the first “winner” was set up for publicity for the Virgins Wanted documentary.
