The Medibuntu project, an online repository of packages that couldn't be integrated into distribution because of the legal limitations, has been closed.

Medibuntu stood for Multimedia, Entertainment & Distractions In Ubuntu and comprised Debian compatible packages. In the strange world of licenses, it would be OK to provide an application from a third-party source, but it would be illegal to include it by default in an operating system.

“The Medibuntu repository has been unmaintained for several months, and has become more and more useless over the years. The project is now considered abandoned, and we recommend to disable the repository if you are using it,” reads the official announcement.

It seems that the project has outlived its usefulness and now it's time to close up shop. Its users have been advised to remove it and to stop wishing that it will be updated.
