MediaFire has successfully managed to demonstrate that you can offer more for less money

MediaFire is making things difficult for all other cloud service providers out there by introducing a brand new subscription plan for consumers, offering 1TB of storage for $2.5 per month.

The company already offers 10GB of free space (with the potential of increasing to up to 50GB), but the new Pro and Business plans are available for a promotional price.

While normally $5 per month, the 1TB storage space is now available for half the price, while the $50 Business plan that offers up to 100 TB space now costs $25. New customers can choose to pay for a single month or for an entire year, thus letting everyone take advantage of the promo for a longer time, not to mention the fact that the yearly plan comes with an additional price cut.

Along with the rather cool promos, MediaFire is also bringing in several major updates.

All users, whether they’ve chosen the free account type or one of the ones you have to pay for, will now be able to upload individual files of up to 20 Gb when using native 64-bit browsers.

MediaFire Desktop has also received a big update as it finally takes a step out of Beta grounds. The tool has been updated to fix bugs and deliver major speed upgrades. Native apps for iPad and Android devices are in the works and will be made available in the coming weeks. They’ll feature new abilities, including the possibility to automatically sync photographs from your Android mobile device to the cloud, similar to the option offered by Google.

The Developer Resource Portal and API have been overhauled completely. From now on, they will enable developers to integrate MediaFire Storage and file sharing quite easily, directly into applications. Native SDK’s are also in the works and will be delivered for all major platforms and languages.

Now that these announcements have been made, MediaFire is waging war against the likes of Google, especially since the Internet giant has recently dropped the monthly Drive prices to offer huge amounts of cloud storage.

When it comes to competitors such as Dropbox and Box, there’s no real comparison, considering that Dropbox charges $10 per month for 100GB, twice as much as Box does for the same storage space.

“MediaFire is the only file storage service on the market designed with file sharing in mind. With no download, upload, or sharing limits, we make it simple and easy to store and share all of your files, and design all of our products with regular consumers in mind. We have 37 Million registered users and growing, and over 150 Million people download files from MediaFire every month,” the company said in regard to its competition plans against Google, Microsoft and Dropbox.

Correction: The article has been edited to correcly indicate the amount of free storage offered by MediaFire from 100GB to 10GB.
