A Metal Gear Solid one will appear

There have been quite a few high-quality, triple-A titles that have appeared this holiday season, which led a lot of industry analysts to state that 2008 has been a great year for games. We've seen quality shooters like Resistance 2 or Gears of War 2, but also RPGs like Fallout 3 or Fable II, though a very surprising puzzle platformer has really enticed the interest of quite a lot of people, LittleBigPlanet.

Created by the Media Molecule studio, and published by Sony, exclusively for the PlayStation 3, this game promises to give players complete, although sometimes a bit restrictive, creative freedom, allowing them to make their own levels, using their custom SackBoy or SackGirl creations. Gamers can manipulate the environments found in the game and, by using the level creator, they can make and then share their own designs with friends, over the PlayStation Network.

Although sales haven't really gone through the roof, as Sony expected, Media Molecule is heavily promoting it, and hopes that, over time, people will realize what a great experience this game delivers. In order to back that up, the developers are releasing quite a lot of new content for the game, in the form of costumes for the SackBoys and Girls, based on different themes, and new additions to the level creator, the latest being a Christmas-themed one.

Alex Evans, a Media Molecule executive, has recently stated that gamers need to prepare for some very “shocking” packs in the next time frame, as the team at the European developer is really working hard for the users of LBP. Such is the case with the upcoming Metal Gear Solid-themed content pack, which will deliver quite a lot of costumes, made famous by the tactical stealth shooter, for your own SackBoy and Girl.

“So what I said to the team is that each of these packs that we do over the next year or so has to be shocking. These aren't little add-ons or side tweaks. These are like serious, game changing, massive – how can we really mess with peoples' heads and change what they think about LBP. The first example of that is the Metal Gear Solid pack, which we just finished. I don't think that people are expecting what it's going to be and I'm so excited by that.”

LittleBigPlanet is enjoying quite a lot of support from its developer and from its publisher, which is a really good thing, as games need to be taken care of, even after their launch.
