The Medal of Honor online multiplayer beta will go live on the 5th of July, according to a pre-order listing at an online retailer. The beta will be available only to those who pre-order the game and will last only until the 17th of July, that is, for about two weeks. It will be accessible through a code that customers will receive when the pre-order payment is confirmed.

The online shop where first person-shooter fans can pre-order Medal of Honor and get in the future beta is Play.com. The full text that mentions the beta says that, “Pre-ordering Medal Of Honor from Play.com will give fans the opportunity to join the Medal Of Honor multiplayer BETA when it goes live on July 5th 2010. The BETA will take place between July 5th and July 17th – access codes will be emailed on July 5th. All pre-orders through Play.com will entitle customers to an access code. BETA access details are subject to change at any time.”

Medal of Honor is a first-person shooter that will reboot the franchise, moving it to a more modern setting. Players will be seeing the war on terror fought by the United States’ military forces in Afghanistan. The title's single-player campaign will focus on both the big-scale operations the US deploys in the country and the small-scale-behind-enemy-lines mission that Tier 1 soldiers engage in. EA has consulted with specialists from both the sledgehammer and the scalpel side of the American army to ensure a realistic presentation of the conflict.

The multiplayer component of the game will be developed separately by DICE, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Battlefield series. The team is promising that Medal of Honor's online play will not be a Bad Company 2 clone, though. Medal of Honor is set to be released on the 15th of October on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC in Europe and is published by Electronic Arts.
