Will start in 12 months

Electronic Arts and DICE have announced that those who buy the Medal of Honor Limited Edition will receive an invitation to the Battlefield III beta that is to come within 12 months from the release of game. While EA and DICE have not shied away from talking about the existence of Battlefield III, this is the closest thing to an official announcement that has been issued yet.

The release date or platforms have not been announced, but it can be safely assumed that Battlefield III will be available for the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Back in February, Fredrik Liliegren, the chief executive officer of DICE confirmed that the game had been in development for three years already. He only talked about the PC version, saying that, “What the PC version is going to be, Battlefield 3, I think it's going to absolutely blow everyone away, but I can't tell you what it is, but it will blow people away. (…) because it's not Modern Warfare 2 PC, it's not that experience.”

DICE has been working also on the multiplayer side of Medal of Honor, designing it to be a more streamlined experience for Modern Warfare fans, as opposed to the more open-ended gameplay from Bad Company 2. Battlefield III would signal a return to the classic from for DICE, meaning good news for many for its fans.

The Limited Edition of Medal of Honor also contains various early unlocks like the MP-7, a weapon utilized by Tier 1 soldiers in Afghanistan. Medal of Honor is set to launch on the 12th of October in North America and the 15th of October in Europe. The PlayStation 3 version will contain a free HD remake of Medal of Honor: Frontline, another critically acclaimed console title in the franchise.
