Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it has recruited composer Ramin Djawadi, who has previously worked on the blockbuster Iron Man, to create the soundtrack for Medal of Honor, the new first person shooter that the company is putting on in the coming month.

Ramin Djawadi, who has also worked on Clash of the Titans and on the television series Prison Break, has said, “Designing a score that captures both the scalpel-like quite professionalism of the Tier 1 Operators and the sledge hammer action of big military has been a unique challenge.”

He added, “The music is designed to dynamically ebb and flow, complementing the big action sequences with thundering electric guitar and bass, and the quiet stealth with haunting strings and hymns. It is like a Hollywood action movie score on steroids.”

The composer also explained that the varied nature of Medal of Honor, with frequent changes of scenery and with shifting perspectives, leads to a soundtrack which needs to constantly change in order to match the action.

Those who play on the PC can join the open beta stage for Medal of Honor, which begins on October 4 and will go on until October 8, offering gamers a chance to experience two maps and two game modes and offer feedback to the developer at DICE.

The new Medal of Honor takes place in Afghanistan and will allow the player to experience this modern conflict through the eye of Tier 1 Operators, a relatively unknown entity in the United States Army which carries out the toughest and most secretive operations.

Medal of Honor will launch on October 12 and will arrive on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC.

The developers working on the game have high hopes of competing with Call of Duty: Black Ops for the title of best sold first person shooter of the year.
