A new job listing from development studio Danger Close suggests that the studio, which is a subsidiary of Electronic Arts, is already involved in the creation of the next video game in the now rebooted Medal of Honor franchise.

The job listing is for a senior gameplay engineer who needs to be familiar with the creation of weapons and vehicles for the first-person shooter and has “exposure to multiplayer and/or co-op development”.

The listing directly talks about an “unannounced AAA first person shooter title,” but it's not clear whether they are talking about a new FPS concept or whether they are creating a sequel.

In the sequel happy space of today's gaming market, it's unlikely that the studio would be taking on a wholly new concept so it's pretty safe to say that Medal of Honor 2 is in development and will involve a complex multiplayer and cooperative element.

Before the rebooted Medal of Honor launched, its executive producer said that the game needed to move more than 3 million copies in order for a sequel to be created and the game, despite all its flaws, managed to be a commercial success for its publisher.

Electronic Arts and Danger Close have said that they are not interested in delivering annual installments for their game but that they are taking their time to create a superior product, which probably means an official launch date set for 2012.

In the meantime, publisher Electronic Arts has not lost sight of its aim of stripping rival Activision of the so-called first-person shooter crown, now linked to Call of Duty, and is preparing other games for the challenge.

DICE is at work on Battlefield 3, which could be officially revealed this year, while Respawn Games, the team made up of former Infinity Ward developer, is also working on a project that is in its early stages.
