14 DAY TRIAL // Chris Faylor, who is a community manager working at Gearbox, has stated on the official forum of the game that the bug that resets Badass Rank and eliminates Golden Keys is not in any way related to the newly launched Mechromancer downloadable character.
The developer wrote, “The good news is that the release of Mechromancer and today's update are not connected to the occurrences of Badass Rank being reset.”
He added, “While the timing may appear coincidental, it's a separate issue that we are continuing to investigate.”

Problems with ranks and Golden Keys were initially revealed soon after Borderlands 2 was launched and, at the time, Gearbox said that it was looking into the issue and would fix it in a patch.
It seems that the problem has proven itself to be harder to track down than initially thought.
