When a Cleveland, Ohio woman realized her car had a flat tire she decided to take the vehicle to a dealership to have it replaced. She didn't expect this ordinary visit to turn into a big surprise, but she found out that she has been driving around with eight pounds of marijuana in the spare tire.

Mechanics at AutoNation installed the spare tire, but they didn't see anything suspicious until the woman drove off. They suddenly heard a “loud thumping,” and when they took the tire apart, they discovered three packs of marijuana hidden inside it.

Dennis Cavanaugh, Lorain County Drug Task Force Commander, said that approximately 8 pounds (3.6 kg) of marijuana had been stuffed inside the spare tire, with an estimated street value of about $12,000 (€8,660).

According to the Cleveland Leader, the woman bought the car new seven months ago and says she has no idea how the pot ended up in the spare tire.

Cavanaugh mentioned that the woman has not been charged with any crime and that the origin of the drugs is under investigation at the moment. Police is trying to trace the marijuana back to parts suppliers or the firm that transported the car.

The official also said this was not the first time police had found marijuana hidden in odd places inside vehicles.
