Not everyone came out of the major photo leak scandal on top. If Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton received the support and sympathy of fans, gymnast McKayla Maroney got the exact opposite, but only because she chose to claim that the leaked photos of her were fake.

McKayla Maroney rose to fame after she made the famous “unimpressed” face at the Olympic Games when she came in second. Since then, she's been quite the Internet sensation, also mainly thanks to her good looks.

The 18-year-old was part of the major photo leak scandal that took the Internet by storm, but she claimed that the handful of photos of her were actually fakes. The gymnast took to the Twitter account to write, “the fake photos of me are crazy!! was trying to rise above it all, and not give "the creator" the time of day.. BUT.. ” and she added a photo captioned “You sir, need Jesus.”

That should have been the end of that, but fans were not happy with McKayla's official position and blasted her on Twitter. After viewing the photos, a couple of fans pointed out that they were real and that McKayla should have owned up to them just like the rest of the celebrities involved in the scandal, or, at least, the majority, because some other celebrities claimed they were fake.

One user tweeted, “It's obviously you, the pictures are 100% real. You just can't deny it, it makes you look stupid and untrustworthy.” Another user went even further and claimed that “Fake? Really? Even the ones taken in your own bedrooms? Come on... What's the use of denying the obvious?” This user was directing his ire towards Victoria Justice as well, another celebrity who claimed the photos were fake.

“So the one with you in the mirror is fake? Sorry hun you ain't fooling no one,” concluded another angry fan. The rest of people just couldn't believe that McKayla would ever put herself in such a position, but if it's any consolation to the Olympic gymnast, she's not the only one involved in this scandal that is taking on epic proportions.

Earlier yesterday, Maroney posted on Twitter to her fans, “shout out to my fans for defending me all day long.. even when things got weird u stood by me. and that meant the world,” but by the end of the day, the public's favor had waned, and she found herself face to face with some very angry people.
