The print work for the campaign references depression

McDonald's has apologized for a print ad posted by one of its franchises in Massachusetts, which many are offended by.

The poster depicts a woman crying, and the tagline suggest that, although she feels troubled, she must not be ashamed of her addiction to Big Mac.

"You're not alone. Millions of people love the Big Mac," it reads.

The reader's eye is first drawn to the supportive message about experiencing loneliness, indicating an ad for a service for those suffering from depression or anxiety.

An 800-number is printed below the image, directing to the company's HQ. As you can imagine, the campaign has been dubbed insensitive and McDonald's stresses that the chain has nothing to do with it.

According to USA Today, it has been pulled from subway trains supervised by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
