McDonald’s Introduces I Love New York Line of Burgers

McDonald’s foodies in the Czech Republic have now the change to get a taste of the American way, thanks to a new offer now available in all Mc’Ds locations: the I ♥ New York line of burgers.

As BurgerBusiness reports, this is not the first time that McDonald’s does cultural branding with its products – and, since they’ve proven so popular thus far, why not expand it to new locations.

This way, people in the Czech Republic can choose from a wide variety of burgers named either after famous neighborhoods or iconic streets, with a new burger coming out each week.

“Over the past 18 months, the chain has offered a New York Special burger in the United Kingdom, a New York Supreme burger in Scandinavia, New York Beef Classic in Germany, New York Quarter Pounder in Japan and the NYCrispy in Spain and elsewhere,” BurgerBusiness says of similar initiatives.

“McCafé in Germany added cupcakes named for New York City neighborhoods East Village, Chelsea and Soho plus Central Park,” the e-zine further notes.

In all locations in the Czech Republic, fast food lovers can get a taste of New York with either offering now available, be it Soho Grande, Broadway Chicken or Wall Street Beef – with a side Sladká Srdička or “Sweet Hearts.”

Of course, as Gawker points out, there really isn’t anything newyorkish about the new sandwiches, except for the name and the presentation.

♥ Wall Street Beef, for instance, is made of grilled beef cheese, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce and onion with BBQ sauce on an oval bun topped with sesame seeds, BurgerBusiness says.

A ♥ Brooklyn Classic contains grilled beef with bacon, two slices of cheese, lettuce and red onion on a grilled bun topped with sesame seeds, while a ♥ Manhattan Grilled Chicken is made with grilled chicken breast with lettuce, tomato, red onion and crispy bacon with honey-mustard sauce on a wheat baguette.

The “Sweet Hearts,” as their very name suggests, are heart-shaped fritters made of apple and raisin. There’s also an online competition for those who purchase any of the burgers in the I ♥ New York line: 2 winners get trips to New York.
