She is also directed to Medicaid for assistance with her medical bills

A call from a McDonald's employee to the company's helpline has gone viral. A worker who has been with the company for several years asks for help with feeding her kids.

Instead of being offered an in-house way to manage her money or earn extra, she is directed to the government financial aid tools.

The “McResource” dispatcher tells her about going to food pantries and applying to the SNAP program, which gives out government issued food stamps.

She gets forwarded the relevant numbers and the operator also tells her about getting a discounted bill on her heating.

When she asks about medical bills, she is directed to Medicaid, another federal program for no or low income households.

Salon writes that the worker in question is Nancy Salgado – she has been with McDonald's for 10 years and she has never received a raise or a promotion. She has no health coverage and she earns $8.25 (€6) and hour.
