The Chicken Selects and Fruit & Walnut Salad are also being taken off the menu

One of McDonald's signature burgers is getting the boot, some four years after being introduced, sources are saying.

According to Science World Report, the company is scrapping the Angus Burger, its largest hamburger. Reps cite price issues and poor sales as the motivators to get the Angus off their menus.

The burger costs $4 to $5 (€3 - €3.8), a steep price to pay in a declining economy. A consultant adds that, since introducing the Dollar Menu, customers are flogging to get the cheaper burgers.

"When you can get four or five burgers off the Dollar Menu, nobody's going to buy the Angus burger. [...] The Dollar Menu has become a real problem for these chains," the source says.

McDonald's is advertising its least expensive menus more in a bid to increase market share, but that strategy is not earning that much money, at least for the time being.

They are also dumping the Chicken Selects and Fruit & Walnut Salad, probably because they just seem too healthy.
