McDonald's has just made it public news that, in an effort to green up its working agenda, it will make sure that the seafood served in all of its restaurants across the United States comes from sustainable sources alone.

Just for the record, this makes McDonald's the country's first national restaurant ever to sport a label saying that its management team and employees hold sustainable fishing practices very close at heart.

As reported on several other occasions, numerous green-oriented groups are now doing their best to try to promote sustainable fishing and put an end to seafood fraud, both because such practices harm marine wildlife and because abusing these natural resources can ultimately lead to a global food crisis.

Thus, it was not very long ago when Dr. Robin Davies, a specialist working with the World Wildlife Fund, explained how, “As our fish stocks decrease at the same time as demand increases, it is vital we find innovative solutions that work for both people and nature.”

According to Huffington Post, the so-called blue ecolabel that McDonald's is soon to receive from the Marine Stewardship Council will stand as proof that the Alaskan Pollack used by this restaurant when making its Filet-O-Fish sandwiches is purchased from suppliers whose working agenda abides by environmentally friendly rules and regulations.

Speaking on behalf of the company, spokesperson Christina Tyler argued that the first few days of the coming month of February would witness all of McDonald's restaurants in the United States carrying said label.

Commenting on this piece of news, the Senior Vice President of the US Supply Chain and Sustainability Dan Gorsky made a case of how, “We’re extremely proud of the fact that this decision ensures our customers will continue to enjoy the same great taste and high quality of our fish with the additional assurance that the fish they are buying can be traced back to a fishery that meets MSC’s strict sustainability standard.”
