McAfee's Falcon Goes Beta

Offering PCs protection from spam, viruses, spyware, phishing scams and rootkits, preventing data loss, and providing support for optimizing PC performance and for securing a wireless network, Falcon is McAfee's four flavored security solution.

The four versions of the product will be built on the Falcon platform and are meant as a way to allow users to identify and implement the security solution that fits them, in contrast to a conglomerate one-size-fits-all offer. The core version, including only the basic features, is McAfee VirusScan Plus. McAfee PC Protection Plus, McAfee Internet Security and McAfee Total Protection will only add features to McAfee VirusScan Plus amounting to a complete security platform.

"Our Total Protection beta service goes far beyond traditional malware protection to shield every aspect of the consumer's digital life, including network and wireless security management, Web-based search protection and backup technologies -- all combined into a single, easy-to-use service," said Marc Solomon, McAfee's Director of Product Management.
McAfee's Total Protection Beta and VirusScan Plus Beta are the two available features of Falcon and will offer the security company feedback for the most simple and the most complex of its products. Prices for the final products are still withhold by McAfee.
