ePO Deep Defender and Deep Command are made available by McAfee in hopes of revolutionizing the industry. While Deep Defender is capable of detecting nearly any kernel-mode pieces of malware, Deep Command goes beyond the operating system allowing customers to remotely manage and access even devices that are turned off.

Deep Command will give administrators full control to power on machines and execute tasks, this being a great opportunity for enterprises to save money and the environment. The provider believes that an estimated $600,000 (420,000 EUR) could be saved by a company that owns 20,000 endpoints.

“Enterprise PCs must be available for end users to be productive. McAfee ePO Deep Command enables security administrators to quickly respond to disabled PCs with a remote call for help functionality to ensure proper security is in place to protect against today’s fast propagating threats,” said Brian Foster, senior vice president of product management at McAfee.

“ McAfee ePO Deep Command allows enterprises to reduce the cost of security operations and manage endpoint security beyond-the-operating system.”

On the other hand, Deep Defender will make possible the quick detection of rootkits and other zero-day threats without having prior knowledge of the malicious elements and the best thing is that customers who are already used to the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator platform will have no trouble in implementing the new extension.

This is basically one of the products they promised when first shaking hands with their mother company, Intel, and the latest product is one of the hardware-assisted security platforms that should make sure nothing gets by.

“The combination of McAfee and Intel brings fresh innovation to secure the future of computing and the Internet. The bad guys are getting smarter about hiding malware, but they can’t hide it when interacting with the hardware, memory or operating system,” revealed Todd Gebhart, co-president of McAfee.

“We can now detect these interactions, and provide an unprecedented level of protection to our customers by blocking an entirely new range of stealthy threats. McAfee Deep Defender represents an entirely new approach to security and shows the power of what McAfee can do as part of the Intel family.”
