McAfee Total Protection, McAfee Internet Security Suite, McAfee PC Protection Plus and McAfee VirusScan Plus, McAfee Wireless Protection 2007, McAfee SiteAdvisor, and McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus have all been updated in order to deliver complete compatibility with Windows Vista, concomitantly with the operating system's commercial availability.

On January 30, McAfee announced that it has introduced Vista support upgrades to the products included in the consumer security suites. The added support has been made available free of charge to all active subscribers of the McAfee suites.

"McAfee research shows that online threats are expected to double every two years and will continue to evolve aggressively. Even with new releases like Windows Vista that are designed with security in mind, it's critical for us to ensure that the technology we provide is compatible with and enhances the operating system itself," said Marc Solomon, Director of Product Management, McAfee Consumer. "This new upgrade makes sure our consumer customers have the peace of mind and comprehensive security that can only come from McAfee."

McAfee informed that it will add the new security capabilities to its suites as silent updates and that only customers that have opted to manually install patches will have to download and deploy upgrades themselves. McAfee has revealed that the security solutions will add virus and rootkit protection to Windows Vista, along with securing the deletion process and introducing safe search and browse technologies.

Microsoft has announced even from mid January that McAfee would be one of the security developers to offer complete support for Windows Vista by the beginning of February.
