Security company McAfee has started a new program through which it invites beta testers around the world to register and try out its new security applications. Obviously, McAfee has a simple goal: to let users help the company develop more powerful security products with less bugs. But what's more important for you is that the company offers at least impressive prizes, including here money certificates, iPod nanos and McAfee backpacks - the total approximate value of all prizes is $402,627 with "iPods, backpacks, and subscriptions not redeemable for cash value."

"As a token of our appreciation for participating in this Beta Testing Program, you may be eligible to earn special gifts. By completing a survey at the end of the McAfee Home and Home Office Beta programs, you will be eligible to obtain McAfee Home and Home Office Beta Rewards. Rewards include gift cards or certificates of $50 or $1000, iPod nanos, and McAfee backpacks," the company explains.

However, note that the program is only open till August 31, 2008 and the value of the prize depends on the bugs you will have found in the McAfee applications.

Although McAfee hasn't mentioned which products are included into the beta testing program, it's obvious that users are invited to try out the upcoming products prepared by the company, including here McAfee Total Protection 2009 and McAfee Personal Vault.

According to the McAfee Beta Lab website, McAfee Total Protection is a 12-in-all security suite which comes with multiple applications supposed to protect your computers against all kinds of threats and malware. The Personal Vault is a little bit different as it "protects your valuable personal files and folders containing financial documents, photos, videos and more against thieves and hackers as well as against other people using your computer."
