Because of the recent threats posed on companies by cybercriminals, McAfee came up with a three-pronged approach that would considerably increase mobile data, device and application security in the effort of aiding businesses and their customers better protect their machines.
“Mobile device adoption is exploding, and unfortunately, so are the threats targeting mobile platforms. If McAfee’s historical experience analyzing threats on numerous platforms is any indication, we believe that the emerging mobile malware we are seeing today is just the beginning,” revealed John Dasher, McAfee's senior director in mobile security.
“It’s a whole new world, and a challenge for IT to craft security policies that make sense while updating their infrastructure. At McAfee, we’re working hard to create new technology to help enterprises address the challenge of securely incorporating these new mobile platforms into their environment.”
Because the
risks involved in the use of smart mobile devices have increased in the past period and the threats presented by malware being more present than ever, they came up with the idea of offering a three-way protection that would cover every angle implied in the proper securing of company and personal apparatus.
First of all, the safety of the device itself is considered to be of most importance. Web safekeeping when accessing potentially harmful websites, anti-malware screening and an enhanced protection just like the one from which laptops and desktop computers benefit, are at the top of the list.
Secondly, they propose the complete securing of sensitive corporate mobile data. Anti-theft, lock, wipe and loss features would make sure no information is lost or ends up in the wrong hands.
Finally, applications should not be left aside as in many cases the use of unsafe software leads to the unfortunate situations where devices become infected with all sorts of malware.
In a world where data theft and loss are common, the solutions proposed by McAfee might do a good job in making sure that enterprises will not be so exposed to cybercriminals with a profit in mind.
