McAfee and NitroSecurity, a security information and event management (SIEM) solutions provider, fully agree on the terms of the future acquisition. With this move the buyer hopes to improve their enterprise services providing a better view of a company's entire network infrastructure.

“McAfee is focused on keeping its customers safe with optimized security and risk management solutions,” revealed McAfee's Stuart McClure in the official press release.

“McAfee has taken another significant step toward this goal with the proposed acquisition of NitroSecurity. With NitroSecurity’s technology and talent, McAfee can expand its reach into new markets, secure new platforms and strengthen its hold as the leader in the security risk management market.”

By combining the technologies each company masters the best, they're confident they can provide a security system that will allow users to assess their protection posture better and give them the chance to configure and implement new policies, all from a single central management console.

To obtain this result they plan on uniting the best elements from McAfee's ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) with NitroSecurity's SIEM management, the integration tests showing that the operation is possible.

“McAfee is focused on keeping its customers safe with optimized security and risk management solutions,” McClure further revealed.

Once the acquisition is completed, sometime in the forth quarter of 2011, McAfee's Risk and Compliance business unit, led by McClure will incorporate NitroSecurity's market leading team to complement the organization's security portfolio.

“As a long standing McAfee Security Innovation Alliance partner, we know that NitroSecurity’s technology can provide the McAfee customer base with the highest level of security and compliance across their IT environment,” said NitroSecurity's chairman and chief executive officer, Ken Levine.

“NitroSecurity’s technology supports a broad range of information sources including network security devices, firewalls, operating system and application logs, vulnerability assessment scans, identity and access management systems and privacy systems. It will complement the extensive McAfee security portfolio and help to meet the demanding compliance and protection needs of our joint customers.”
