Mayor of Florence lays down the rules for season 4 of “Jersey Shore”: no booze allowed

The fourth season of MTV’s hit reality show “Jersey Shore” will be shooting in Italy: in Florence, to be more precise. In light of the impending visit from the party-loving group, mayor Matteo Renzi has issued a series of rules that must be obeyed.

As we also noted on previous occasions, while Americans can’t seem to get enough of Snooki & Co., Italians aren’t exactly thrilled about the show – as neither are they about the guidos and guidettes’ visit to Italy.

Just recently, for instance, a rumor emerged that MTV had problems with the fourth season because clubs and restaurants in Italy did not want to allow the reality stars in because of the damage they could do to their image.

As it turns out, they weren’t the only ones: because of the image of Florence the stars could promote on the show, mayor Matteo Renzi has issued some ground rules for them, Corrieri informs.

The first one says that “The cast will not be filmed in bars and clubs that serve alcohol.” Not only that, but “the cast will not be filmed drinking in public,” the second rule states.

“The show will not be filmed to promote Florence as a drinking town. The show should be filmed in a manner to promote Italy (not Americans visiting Italy) and feature its culture and good food,” it is further said.

The rules are clearly meant to protect the image of Florence and have been issued with the best intentions at heart.

Whether they will actually be followed is an entirely different matter: for starters, one of the things the “Jersey Shore” guys and girls are famous for is how much they drink and, most importantly, how drunk and disorderly they get.

Then again, since producers are adamant that part of the fourth season be shot in Italy, chances are good that the cast will try and be on their best behavior while there.

In other words, season 4 of “Jersey Shore” will most likely be different from previous ones – one way or another.
