Max Mobile, a not so popular Indian OEM, has just announced the upcoming availability of its first smartphone powered by Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

The so-called Maxx Smarty AXD21 MSD7 will be available in India exclusively via online retailer Snapdeal for only Rs 4,020 ($65 / €50) outright.

For the time being, the smartphone is not available for purchase, but those who wish to be notified when the handset arrives in stock can register with their emails on the retailer’s webstore.

Even though the Smarty AXD21 MSD7 has been priced so low, it looks like Maxx has some surprises for Android fans looking for an affordable smartphone to replace their feature phone.

First of all, Maxx Mobile has announced that its cheap smartphone will come with no less than 20GB of storage space. You may be wondering how this is possible. Well, it appears that those who purchase the Smarty AXD21 MSD7 will also receive a free 16GB microSD memory card that will go with their smartphone.

Along with the already included 4GB of internal memory that has been confirmed by the manufacturer, Smarty AXD21 MSD7 owners will also get close to 20GB of storage on their cheap handset.

Another surprisingly good feature that got included in the Smarty AXD21 MSD7 is the dual-core MediaTek MT6572M processor clocked at 1GHz. We would have expected this cheap handset to be equipped with a single core CPU, but it looks like Maxx Mobile stepped it up and added a dual-core processor instead.

The bad news is that the phone only packs 512MB of RAM, so not all apps and games on Google Play Store will work smoothly on it.

On the positive side, the smartphone comes with 3G connectivity, dual-SIM support, Bluetooth, microUSB, Wi-Fi, GPS with GLONASS support, and FM Radio.

There’s also a 3.2-meagpixel photo snapper on the back that features LED flash and video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Maxx Smarty AXD21 MSD7 sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that support 480 x 800 pixels resolution. It’s also worth mentioning that the smartphone is powered by a 1450 mAh battery, which should provide up to 150 hours of standby time or up to 4 hours of talk time.

Software-wise, the handset comes preloaded with a plethora of apps and games, including MAXX World, MAXX life Box, MAXX Care, Getit, OLX, Flipkart, Hungama, Opera Mini, WeChat, and Gameloft games.
