One of the few mobile browsers that include support for gestures, Maxthon Mobile, has just been updated to version 1.1. Two weeks after its initial launch, the popular browser now provides users with two new functions: synching of cross-platform information, as well as new finger gestures.

The second release of Maxthon Mobile is the result of the feedback received, as well as one of the steps taken by the developers to make cloud computing across multiple devices viable.

The synching feature enables users to manage data, such as contacts and favorites using any Maxthon platform on PC or an Android phone.

According to developers, a user will be able to sort a collection of contacts by phone area code with Maxthon on his PC and view them in the same order when he opens the same contacts using Maxthon Mobile on his phone.

“The feature is beyond the scope of traditional data synchronization. It's just one of the many steps we'll be taking to make cloud computing across multiple devices a real and vital part of mobile computing,” said Jeff Chen, CEO of Maxthon.

The Gesture feature of the Maxthon Mobile is not new for its users, as the developers included with the original release some predefined gestures to control the browser: to close a page tab, the user draws a “c” (Close), to create a new tag, the user draws an “n” (New).

However, Maxthon Mobile 1.1 adds a new gesture for users who wanted a touch screen “undo” gesture to reopen a tab they accidentally closed. The new gesture is a reverse “c,” the opposite of the gesture to close a tab.

Maxthon Mobile is compatible with all devices running Android 1.6 or later and is available as a free download from Softpedia.
