Simon Fox, the leading engineer working on the offline version of SimCity, says that Maxis has worked hard in order to make sure that the entire experience is fully optimized and there are no performance issues when compared to the online mode.

He writes in an official blog post that, “We have an obligation to make the game fun and functional on all specs of machines. We wouldn’t want someone who was enjoying the Multiplayer game to find the Single Player game crippled due to poor optimization.”

Update 10 is designed to make SimCity playable offline and it does not currently have a launch date.

The conversion process took more than six months because core gameplay mechanics of the game needed to be modified.

Maxis says that the city builder now also supports the use of mods created by the community.

SimCity was one of the most disappointing releases of 2013.
