Will Wright, the legendary creator of the SimCity franchise, says that the most important video game developers in the industry at the moment are Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo, Peter Molyneux, now at 22 Cans, and Sid Meier, the leader of Firaxis.

Joystiq cites the developer as stating during the Game Horizon event that the three have the power to push gaming forward even as the state of the industry is uncertain.

Wright says about Miyamoto, “his games have this craftsmanship behind them that’s amazing and unique.”

Molyneux is praised for his willingness to take risk and his ability to create interesting experiences around small ecosystems.

Sid Meier is seen as creating titles that are just playable and comfortable.

At the moment, Will Wright is ready to work on video games that will deal directly with events taken from the player’s life.
