Rockstar Games has just unveiled the first details about the soundtrack of the upcoming Max Payne 3 third-person shooter, confirming that LA-based band Health will contribute to the game, alongside Brazilian hip-hop artist Emicida and Brooklyn DJ collective Trouble & Bass.

Max Payne 3 is set to appear this month onto platforms like the PC, PS3 or Xbox 360, so Rockstar wants to make sure that those interested in the shooter know everything there is to know about it.

After checking out many screenshots, gameplay videos, and various other things about Max Payne 3, fans of the series can now admire the first details about the game’s soundtrack.

Many of the songs included in the game were created by the band Health, based in Los Angeles, but Rockstar also collaborated with other artists, including Emicida, a hip-hop artist from Sao Paulo, Brazil, as well as DJ group Trouble & Bass, which will supply tracks for the Nightclub chapter in the story.

The actual Max Payne 3 Official Soundtrack album will be available digitally on May 23, while the single Tears, which was present in a previous TV spot, will come out on May 15, right alongside the game’s PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

“Health’s unique blend of rock, powerful drums and electronic soundscapes lends itself perfectly to the score for the game,” Rockstar said about the soundtrack.

“Taking influences from Brazil, Max’s native New York and the themes of the original games, Health have put together a fantastic soundtrack that perfectly embodies the tone and the atmosphere of Max Payne 3. Distinctive arrangements unique to each level accompany Max on his journey through the game's locations, perfectly framing the game's epic action sequences and the dark and gritty story.”

Expect to hear some more details about Max Payne 3 as we get closer to its release on consoles in the middle of the month (May 15, in North America, May 18, in Europe) and on the PC at the end of May.
