Max Payne 3 has just been delayed in order to ensure that it will deliver the highest quality experience possible, with Rockstar’s publishing partner, Take-Two Interactive, confirming that the third person shooter is now scheduled to arrive in May.

Max Payne 3 has been in development for quite some time, with Rockstar Games officially confirming the game many years ago. Shortly after that, however, the game entered a cone of shadow where it stayed until last year, when Rockstar once again talked about the shooter, saying that it would be released this March.

Since then, we’ve seen a huge amount of screenshots and videos of the new game appear, as well as details about its single-player, which sees Max Payne move from New York to Sao Paulo, Brazil, or its story-based multiplayer, called Gang Wars.

Sadly, it seems that fans will have to wait a bit more until they get to experience Max’s new adventures, as Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that the game has been pushed back a few months.

"We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our Company," said Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two.

"Max Payne 3 promises to be one of our most exciting releases to date, and we are confident that consumers will once again be amazed by Rockstar's ability to take interactive entertainment to another level.”

The company also highlighted the impressive array of games it would release throughout the fiscal year of 2013, which included titles like BioShock Infinite, Borderlands 2, Spec Ops: The Line, XCOM, XCOM: Enemy Unknown and, after this announcement, Max Payne 3.

According to Rockstar, Max Payne 3 is now set to arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles on May 15, in North America, and May 18, in Europe, while the PC version will be deployed on May 29 and June 1, respectively.
