Apple is known to be actively developing a 10.9.1 update with fixes

Released just over a month ago, OS X Mavericks packs a lot of usefulness but also comes with a fair dose of bugs, including one peculiar UI flaw which causes finished downloads to appear unfinished.

This doesn’t happen all the time, but I’ve come across this bug enough times to file it under “annoying.” Here’s what’s going on.

In OS X, files that are actively being downloaded (or transferred from one side to another) take on a progress bar and an X button which allows you to see how the download is going and gives you the option to stop the download, respectively.

This download “face” vanishes when the process is complete. Or it should vanish, but it sometimes doesn’t, in OS X Mavericks. Pictured above is a finished download of Boinx Mousepose which I’ve unpacked and the DMG file still looks as if it’s being downloaded. One more bug to fix in OS X 10.9.1.
