TransGaming has officially confirmed its partnership with 2K Games to port The Darkness II, an M-rated first-person shooter psychological thriller video game, over to the Mac. The game had already been scheduled to arrive on Mac OS X this month.

In a statement issued this week, Vikas Gupta, CEO and president of TransGaming Inc. confirmed that “TransGaming and 2K Games are committed to delivering the most immersive and innovative entertainment experiences to consumers. ”

“We’re pleased to expand our partnership with 2K Games and bring one of their most anticipated titles to Mac,” Gupta added, according to InsideMacGames. “The Darkness II offers ground-breaking gameplay and Mac gamers will love stepping into its highly stylized, narrative-driven action.”

The Darkness II continues the story of a New York crime family head going by the name of Jackie Estacado. According to the game’s official description, Estacado possesses “an ancient and brutal force of chaos and destruction known as the Darkness.”

The game introduces a unique Quad-Wielding combat style, four-person cooperative gameplay, and more.

System requirements include: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) / Mac OS X 10.7.2 (Lion) or higher; Intel Core 2 Duo or better; 2 GB or higher RAM; at least 10 GB of free hard drive space; AMD HD2600 / Nvidia 9600GT graphics card with at least 256 MB VRAM or higher; keyboard and mouse.

The Darkness II will be distributed through Valve’s Steam gaming platform. The Mac port will be fully featured and will support SteamPlay and SteamWorks. Gamers will be able to play cross-platform (between Mac and PC versions in multiplayer).

Customers who’ve already pre-ordered the game can expect to receive their activation code and download information by email any day now.

“You will not be able to activate/play the game until officially released,” TransGaming said. The Darkness II is rated M by the ESRB and 18 by PEGI.
