It's unclear whether the cartoon creators have an official deal in place for it

Matt Stone, one of the original creators of the South Park universe, believes that there's a possibility of working with the team at Obsidian in order to create a sequel for the recently launched The Stick of Truth, although some aspects of the game might need to be changed.

He tells IGN that, "This was a hellacious undertaking – much more than when we signed up for it. Never say never. I would do it again, in some fashion. I think that video games are really interesting."

The creator explained that both him and his partner Trey Parker were very interested in making sure that the South Park video game would live up to the quality of the show and that meant they needed to be involved in the entire development process.

Stone also believes that The Stick of Truth is a product that's very different from the core South Park television show and that a learning process had to take place before the Obsidian collaboration bore fruit.

He adds, "The natural rhythms of comedy that we know pretty well from the TV comedy universe, they’re different from a game. And they have to be different, and you can’t resist it. You have to go, 'Yeah, it’s gonna be different' instead of being a joke. It’s gonna be a tool that you use that’s gonna be funny when you use it. I would start differently now if we started again."

It seems that at the moment, neither the development team nor Matt Stone and Trey Parker are interested in actively working on story-based downloadable content for the South Park video game.

The creator of the show's universe also says that he is interested in playing other video games and that at the moment, he is interested in FIFA 14 and might also pick up and play Titanfall, the first-person shooter from developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts.

After The Stick of Truth was first launched, Stone also talked about the decision to take out a number of scenes from the experience, which was made by publisher Ubisoft, and explained that he believed that a double standard was largely responsible for the move.

Since then, the community has created a mod that allows those playing on the PC to see all the censored content, although the publisher might decide to ban those who actively use it.

South Park: The Stick of Truth can also be played on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
