They didn’t handle it well, Lauer says in new interview

For the first time since Ann Curry was fired from The Today Show, Matt Lauer is speaking out to defend himself and, as it so happens, throw everybody else over at NBC under the bus in the process.

In a new interview with The Daily Beast about Curry’s departure, which is believed to have caused more damage than good to the overall ratings, Lauer lays the blame at the network bosses’ door.

This comes in response to speculation that he was the one who convinced the bosses that Curry should be let go because he simply could not stand her.

“I don’t think the show and the network handled the transition well,” Lauer says.

“You don’t have to be Einstein to know that... It clearly did not help us. We were seen as a family, and we didn’t handle a family matter well,” he adds.
