Actor Matt Dillon declared he can't stand the young starlets who are so desperate for fame and money, arguing there are other things in life that should be treasured.
Dillon, 41, confessed he never made a decision based only on increasing his fame, but recognizes he worked for some time to c0me to this conclusion.
He says: "I met this girl the other day and she says to me, 'I want to be rich. I want to be famous.'
I said to her, 'Is that really what you want? Is that what you want on your tombstone: 'She was really famous'? Fame and wealth aren't virtuous things and they shouldn't be ends in themselves.
I've got some work I'm really proud of and some other stuff I hope stays in the dustbin, but I never made decisions on the basis of whether I was going to get more famous," Dillon added.
Matt Dillon's filmpgraphy includes the role of Nicole Kidman's husband in "To Die For" (1995), "Wild Things" (1998), and "There's Something About Mary" (1998) for which he received an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
In 2002, he also wrote and directed the 2002 film "City of Ghosts", starring himself, James Caan and Grard Depardieu.
His most recent film is "Crash", which was cowritten and directed by Paul Haggis, who also wrote Million Dollar Baby.
