Actor Matt Damon recently confessed he forgot how horrifying The Brother Grimm tales were and that he wasn't scared at all when he read them in childhood.
Damon, 35, who's co-staring Heath Ledger in "The Brothers Grimm", declared he was reminded by his mother how dark the stories were, when she brought him an old copy of the Grimm tales.
He says, "While we were making the movie my mother actually showed up on set with my little hardcover Grimm's fairytales.
Looking back, the stories are a lot more macabre than I remember. And there's some pretty racy stuff too."
The movie, directed by Terry Gilliam, 65, and due for release on August 26, is dedicated to all those who loved the classic Grimm fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel.
"The Brothers Grimm" project, based on Ehren Kruger's script was started in 2002, and Gilliam finished shooting at the end of November in 2003. This may be one of the most commercial projects ever made by the famous filmmaker.
Matt Damon, born October 8, 1970, shares an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay with his friend Ben Affleck for the movie "Good Will Hunting". He was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the same film.
He founded Project Greenlight with Affleck to find and fund worthwhile film projects from novice filmmakers.
