Matrox has just unveiled its newest multiple-monitor controller, called the Veos, that can create multiple monitor configurations even if they are located at significant distances. Matrox has quite some
experience when it comes to multiple monitor setups, as it has previously released the DualHeads2Go appliance.

This time, Matrox is making a comeback with improved technology, that can operate multiple monitors situated at maximum 100 meters away from the signal splitter. The device can carry multiple channels of content over a single copper-based cable, as much as the copper cable is within the 100 meters limit per monitor. The improved technology does not allow for image quality loss, which means that the picture is identical with the original signal across all channels. The image quality is also preserved whether there are three or 100 monitors powered from the same source.

"Matrox Veos is a natural evolution to our existing multi-display digital signage product line," says Ron Berty, business development manager, Matrox Graphics, Inc. "Combining Matrox multi-display expertise with digital extension allows digital signage customers to place displays wherever they are needed, not just in close proximity to one another. Veos brings this all together in one integrated package."

The Matrox Veos appliance is comprised of three distinct blocks, called the Master, the Repeater and the Display. The Master connects directly to the video source (usually the PC's display output - either D-Sub or DVI). It is able to send the digital video at a distance of maximum 100 meters using a single coaxial cable. The Repeater component takes the signal from the coaxial cable and pushes it 100 meters more, just like a generic signal amplifier. Finally, the Display unit features two independent display outputs that can be either DVI or VGA.

The Matrox Veos is more than a regular signal splitter. It comes with support for a broad range of video resolutions, including the full 1080p high-definition video.
