Matrox is quite well-known for creating some pretty impressive display-related solutions (especially when multiple displays are involved), and now, the company's back with yet another very interesting innovation, namely one that will allow up to eight projectors to overlap their images, without affecting the display quality in any way.

This will be possible via the new Matrox PowerDesk Edge Overlap feature, enabled on the Matrox M-Series graphics cards, that will allow users to adjust the number of overlapping pixels between blending-enabled projectors to create a seamless, unified image.

Quite obviously, the range of applications for this feature is quite impressive, given the fact that it will grant professional installers a much higher level of freedom when setting-up multi-projector platforms, not to mention some pretty spectacular end-results.

“Adding edge overlap across the entire M-Series product line allows for content to be seamlessly displayed across two to eight projectors as though it was one seamless image,” says Ron Berty, Business Development Manager for Matrox. “

Seams on both the vertical and horizontal axes can be overlapped easily and effectively with the new driver, and with projectors from Mitsubishi, Panasonic, and others adding the blend touch, the resulting image is simply outstanding,” the company's rep added.

"The Matrox M-Series’ new edge overlap functionality works great as a complement to our Mitsubishi 8000 series of edge blending, dual-lamp projectors," commented Wayne Kozuki, product manager for projectors, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, who also added that "our integrators can now create a seamless multi-projector image at a lower price point, making this unique hardware combination from Matrox and Mitsubishi a great value for challenging display projects with challenging budgets."

The multi-projector edge overlap support will be available starting with the 4.00.02 display driver for M-Series graphics cards, apparently already available on the company's web page.
