Updates its app to version 1.2

Australian software development company Matrix Knowledge Management, recently announced that it has updated its highly-acclaimed VPhone application for iPhone to version 1.2. The update makes the application available on Apple's iOS4 too, which means those that already updated their device can now take advantage of the new features introduced. Besides the compatibility with iOS 4, VPhone 1.2 brings a few more new features, such as a new dial pad, as well as a new voice engine.

The interface of the application has been redesigned to look much better, and the performance has been increased, especially the premium version with the G729 codec. The premium VoIP application coupled with the low bandwidth codec like G729 seems to be working much better for VoIP calls over the 3G data network. In addition, there are now 3 configurable accounts users can utilize both for VoIP and SMS.

Here are the new features added in VPhone 1.2: New dial pad; New voice engine; Favorites list; Better prefix integration; Removes all non numeric characters from Contacts selection.

Other key features of the iPhone application include: Voice over IP - WIFI & 3G; SMS over IP - WIFI & 3G; Contacts integration; History of calls made and SMS; Dial from History; Add to Contacts from History; Call Hold; Multiple VoIP accounts capable; Multiple SMS accounts capable; Codec selection includes G729, G711, GSM, G722 and Speex; DNS, NAT & STUN configuration; Supports Inbound calls either SIP to SIP or via a Direct in Dial number (DID); DTMF support; Dial plan or prefix configuration; In-app visual help; In-app Voice help; Dynamic data updates from a list of VoIP providers; Dynamic data updates from a list of SMS providers.

VPhone requires an iPhone device with iOS 3.1 or later (iOS 4.0 tested), as well as 5.2 MB storage space. The application is available worldwide exclusively through AppStore for $11.99 USD.
