A weird but funny clock

I must admit that weird time-keeping machines are fun, whether their functionality is real or not. Having a wacky wall clock or a wristwatch you can barely understand may not be one of the most practical solutions when it comes to being on a schedule, yet I really doubt that anyone buying such gadgets does so hoping he or she would ever be on time each day they'd refer to these toys. Tokyoflash is one of the most prominent names in the field of uncanny watches and its designs are unique and sometimes seemingly impossible to use, yet it is not the only one.

[admark=1]I was very glad to see the Match Clock offered by ThinkGeek, a wall piece that looks quite OK from a distance (a greater distance, that is) but whose complex nature could require more than a quick glimpse.

The only thing that makes a difference is the design on the front plate. There are numbers all right, but in order to properly know what time it is, some math exercises are required. The Arab numbers and Roman symbols have simply been replaced with mathematical formulas and equations; the solution to all these 12 math phrases is the exact number that should have been printed in the exact same place.

For example, the creators of the Math Clock thought that simply writing down "9" would be too casual and have replaced this number with the "3(Pi-0.14)", while "7" is written as "52-x2+x=10" and so on. Now, it's indeed fun, but I have serious doubts you could get to some solid results while teaching your child how to read the clock using this particular one.

The Math Clock is indeed a tool for the geekiest of geeks (is there such a category?) and I guess I could actually use it as a gift for some people I know. It remains to be seen whether they are worth the 27 bucks I’m planning to spend.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
