The electronic book reader should still be able to meet demand at year's end

Amazon launched the Paperwhite Kindle e-reader near the end of the first week of September 2012, which was almost four weeks ago.

Stockpiles aren't up to snuff though, and may not reach desired levels until late October, early November, possibly delaying availability.

The reason is twofold. For one, supply of raw materials used in construction is poor at the moment. Secondly, the manufacturers are experiencing a labor shortage as well.

Amazon still expects to meet the year end demand at least, even with the extra orders caused by the upcoming holidays.

Then again, shipments were never expected to go beyond a few million this year, so it's not as though Amazon has some lofty goal to live up to.
